wedding cakes in rincon, puerto rico

There are many decisions to make when planning a wedding: the venue, how many guests you'll have, the theme, the dress, the CAkE!

The word for Cake in Spanish is Bizcocho, so you'll need to know that one for sure!

While you're here, let others help you out with cakes with a trusted wedding planner. Ocasiones, a preferred wedding planner, will help narrow down the amount of work you have to do with out local knowledge. Make it stress free and let them plan it out!

Or, if you're feeling spontaneous, you can always find a local panaderia (bakery) and ask if they do cakes. I've seen some creative masterpieces here so far! You can always go with the flow and have fun with it!

Either way, planning a wedding in Rincon, Puerto Rico is done all the time here, which makes word of mouth and help from others a great way to ensure a wedding that is not only beautiful, but stress-free. (To an extent of course, we can't control the guests!)

hehe.

Stand up Paddle Boards in Rincon, Puerto Rico

Jennifer Aniston enjoying a chill paddle board ride.
A new fitness craze has caught on here in Rincon, Puerto Rico. Stand up Paddleboarding (SUP) is a fun way to get out there in the ocean if surfing may be a little too intense for you. A little bit more relaxing, yet a powerful work out for your entire body, focusing on balance and stability to move yourself into an adventure.

You can either choose to rent some boards and take them out to your nearest beach here in Rincon, just making sure it is a calm day! These things are quite wide and stable, but definitely a challenge on days with swell where only the ones who know what their doing should be out. Calm days on these are awesome though, a perfect way to check out the tropical fish swimming through the bright sea fans, as well as the  endangered coral of the Marine Preserve at Steps Beach.

There is also an option to take a tour down a river on the boards! An excellent option if you're ready to get out of the sun, the tour is in Quebradillas, where the plants take over the shore in a jungle like tangle. Large green iguanas hang in the trees to watch while birds, fish, and wildlife are sure to be spotted skirting about. Bring your water proof camera to catch excellent shots of colors your friends and family will be shocked to see on your trip back home!

Give it a shot! What a fun way to spend your first few days together as husband and wife : )

Coffe Farm Tour in Rincon, Puerto Rico

For the more laid back travelers, there is an option to check out a local coffee plantation here in Rincon, Puerto Rico.

Sandra Farms, located in Adjuntas, just up in the hills of the western side of the island, is a beautiful landscape with owners comitted to growing delicious, sustainable, and eco-friendly coffee. I appreciate the efforts of this group working with the environment in such a harmonious way.

For coffee lovers, their coffee is mountain grown arabica beans that are harvested and roasted in order to find their unique and enjoyable flavor.

Visit the farm and check out the process as a way to immerse yourself in the rolling shady hills of Puerto Rico and even bring home a natural souviner.

And even if you don't make it up to the farm, you can purchase their organic coffee at Banana Dang, a local coffee shop and friendly hang out on route 413 in Rincon.

Food in Rincon, Puerto Rico

There are many local places to get some great Puerto Rican Food. Whenever you see a sign that says, "comida criolla," you know you're in for a treat. Just the other night I tried something new called a pastilles, which is a meat filled plantain turn over. In the states, all the junk food lovers can picture a "hot pocket." But this was a million times better. Not fried or stuffed in the microwave, they are steamed and wrapped in banana leaves.

There are many food stands on street corners that are great for picking up caribbean staples like yuca: a huge root vegetable, avocado: "Aguacate," they come in many different shapes and sizes here, pineapple: "pina," always smelling delicious and ready to eat, and lots of plantains and bananas galore.

Just recently I had the opportunity to try calabaza, or pumpkin. They are a little different that what you typically picture, with green skin and sold in quarters, but have a delicious taste.

While on vacation, venture out into the world of caribbean dining. Make sure you try something new at every meal to expand your tastes. If you aren't sure how to cook, prepare, or eat some of the foreign foods you'll find here, you can always ask a local nearby that loves to share their recipes.

And if that sounds daunting, there is a local chef here in Rincon, Puerto Rico that is famous for his delicious Puerto Rican cooking. Chef Pedro, the "organic surfer chef" will provide you with amazing meals all while you sip a pina colada. That is what vacation is for right? To book a night with Pedro, just call Rincon Vacations, the local travel agent company, at (787) 823- 2889 or visit RinconVacations.com for more information.

Bioluminescent Bay in Puerto Rico

I just met with a wedding group that was heading out to La Parguera to experience the bioluminescent bay. La Parguera is a small fishing village on the Southwest corner of Puerto Rico and is part of the town of Lajas.  The luminescent effect in the bay is the result of a permanent population of tiny micro-organisms called Dinoflagellates.  These animals produce a chemical spark of light when disturbed in the water.  They can produce striking effects of green and white sparkles that can only be seen at night....and no, don't worry - it's not radioactive!

They were excited, nervous, and a little confused about just what they would find out there. After an hour drive south, they came across Luis' scuba shop and set out for quite an adventure.
Rincon Vacations, a travel company that books all of your adventure activities in Rincon, Puerto Rico, helps set up the reservation. They send you directions, take care of bookings, and provide local information including where to stop along the way and any more good tidbits of information.

What an exciting way to bring the whole wedding party together! They said it was pitch black outside and so fun to feel like they were truly exploring something unique and natural. The bio-lumninescence glows in the water like sparks, glitter, or fireflies. This trip comes highly recommended from many travelers who have never seen such breathtaking phenomenon in the water.

Your party can book the snorkel trip as well that starts around 3 pm, which enables everyone to snorkel the area in the day time. Dinner and drinks are provided while Spanish music plays in the late afternoon. Once it gets dark enough, the group loads onto the boat and descends into the darkness, waiting to see the famous glow trail of the boats wake. Even if you're not much of a "water-person," this trip will leave lasting impressions and memories for everyone.

Beach Weddings in Rincon, Puerto Rico

Sandy Beach, Rincon, Puerto Rico
There are many beaches to choose from in Rincon, Puerto Rico. You may decide to wed right outside of your hotel that's located on the beach, or maybe say, " I do" at the spot you fell in love with on your first visit to the island.

Sandy beach describes the location perfectly. Huge stretches of sand right outside local beach houses and bars right in Puntas, a famous barrio, or neighborhood in Rincon. This one has a sandy bottom as well so swimming and diving into the water is refreshing and fun. Others have more trees and end up rather shady, like Maria's Beach. This beach's shoreline is lined with rocks and reef farther out to see. If you do end up surfing in Rincon, you'll often see Sea Turtles pop their little heads up and ride the waves right with you!

The beaches on the western side of the town have the calmer seas and are often popular for weddings because many resorts line the coast. While strolling the shore you are guaranteed to find pieces of treasure...sea glass!
Just a little bit of our pirate's booty!

Sea glass, just ocean tossed and rubbed pieces of glass that are so beautiful. Fun to collect and wonder about their origins. Also, they make for wonderful decorations and jewelry if you're feeling creative.

A lot of work has been done by the Surfrider Foundation to keep this beautiful and rich area safe for future generations. You can visit their new office to speak to chapter members, join in on events, and gather some reading material to help spread the good word. They're located in the Black Eagle Marina right off 413 in town. The office is directly above Club Nautico bar, you'll see the painting of the Tres Palmas landscape up above the door.

What better way to experience this protected area than by sailboat? The "Katarina" sails the coast of Rincon and will take a group of up to 18 passengers out to sea. The day sail lets you experience snorkeling the caribbean reef, just jump right off the side of the boat!
